2014 Latinos Unidos Luncheon
All net proceeds of the event are designated for local Hispanic students with financial need attending Hillsborough Community College, the University of South Florida or the University of Tampa through Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council’s endowments established at these institutions.
Established by then-Mayor Bob Martinez in 1983, the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council’s (MHAC) founding mission was to serve as a liaison between the Hispanic community and local city government. The roots of the volunteer council stem from a task force, led by the late Raymond Fernandez, whose purpose was to increase the Hispanic representation in the City of Tampa’s Police Department. Over the past years, the MHAC has pioneered several initiatives on behalf of the City for the benefit of the Hispanic community and beyond.
